After back to back hits Fidaa and Tholi Prema, both in the romantic genre, Mega Prince Varun Tej has this time opted to join hands with director Sankalp Reddy of Ghazi fame, to deliver the space flick Antariksham 9000mph, that has released today amidst huge hype and expectations. Also starring Aditi Rao Hydari and Lavanya Tripathi, has the movie met the expectations? Here's team AP Herald's first on net Antariksham review.

India's indigenous satellite Mihira faces a problem, thereby impacting the global communication, and the team heads to Dev(Varun Tej), who is requested by Riya(Aditi Rao Hydari) to help, and his past life is unveiled, with the calamity that struck his life. Now 4 people are chosen for the space travel. and Dev and Riya try to fix the issue with Mihir, and situations force them to start an unplanned mission Kinnera to moon. Whether Devm Riya and team was able to resolve the issue with the satellite Mihir and return back to earth safe is what the thrilling Antariksham is all about.

Varun Tej as Dev, whose situations force him to take the space travel is good, with his subtle emotions, and emotes well during his troubles on space. Aditi Rao Hydari as Riya, the researcher who has to embark on the space mission due to consequences, is impressive and with her perfect body language, suits the role of an astronaut well. She also gets to display emotion, with the thin line of romance, in the screenplay. Lavanya Tripathi is more of an extended cameo and she does her part well, while the rest of the cast including Rahman, Avasarala Srinivas and Satyadev are aptly cast.

Background score by Prashanth Vihari is stunning and elevates the thrills in the space sequences in an impressive manner. Cinematography by Gnanasekhar VS is top notch, as he has balanced between capturing the real shots and the CG shots well, and presents a high quality output. Editing by Karthika Srinivas makes sure Antariksham has a crisp runtime. After proving his mettle with Ghazi, India's first sea war flick, director Sankalp Reddy is this time back with another unconventional tale, with Tollywood's first space flick.

Sankalp firmly establishes his central characters one by one early in the screenplay, and reveals the conflict point that brings characters together, and makes sure the tension infects into the audience, with the perfect momentum gained in the pre interval episodes. The second half moves at break neck pace with twists and unexpected episodes, that makes Antariksham engaging. With a good cast and a strong technical team, Sankalp Reddy with his unique idea and a pacy, novel screenplay, yet again scores high with his directorial abilities. All said, Antariksham, despite predictability issues and drags occasionally, ends up as a can watch for the unique theme and presentation.
