Last seen in the disastrous Jab Harry Met Sejal close to 2 years back, Shahrukh Khan returns on screen with Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif, with whom he had associated earlier in Jab Tak Hai Jaan six years back, with Aanand L Rai's Zero, with SRK coming in an interesting dwarf makeover. Here's team AP Herald's exclusive first on net Zero Review.

Bauua Singh(Shahrukh Khan) belongs to Meerut, and is the most loved person of the town, and he's a dwarf, who has a crush for actress Babita Kumari (Katrina Kaif), and situations lead him to Aafia Bhinder (Anushka Sharma) a physically challenged scientist, and they both fall in love. In a twist of fate, Bauua reaches Mumbai, where he gets to meet his crush Babita, and he becomes one among the stars. Was Bauua's feelings for Babita get conveyed, and was Bauua able to realise Aafia's love for him was all that he needs, and what happens ultimately is what Zero is all about.

Shahrukh Khan totally steals the show, as he rocks with his cute performance as the lovable Bauua, and with his witty oneliners, body language, and subtle emotions, SRK is a bundle of energy, and is an instant attraction. Anushka Sharma excels with her unconventional role, and emotes beautifully, once again proving her talent. It is Katrina who's a surprise package, as she proves she can be expressive, and can play roles beyond the fake accent NRI girl, or a sexy eye candy, and with her intense and emotional act, totally breaks her image. The supporting cast, including Tigmanshu Dhulia and Zeeshan Ayub are adequate.

Background score of Zero is soothing, and lingers in your ears for long, while of the songs, Husn Parcham, Heer Badnam, Mere Naam Tu are addictive. Manu Anand's cinematography makes sure the complex VFX shots, including SRK's huge effort as the dwarf are presented in a realistic manner, at the same time ensuring that the glossy and glitzy life of stars is captured colorfully, and a special mention to Red Chillies for the spectacular VFX.

After proving himself in the romantic genre with movies like Tanu Weds Manu franchise and Raanjhana, director Aanand L Rai has joined hands with SRK, to present a heartwarming tale of two souls, who fall for each other beyond their imperfections, and with the protagonist, a dwarf, reaching a point of self realization and understanding of real happiness. The movie takes its sweet time to establish its characters, and with the first half at a brisk pace, with Himanshu Sharma's witty dialogues and screenplay, Zero gets a value addition, and the second half despite its share of drags, appeals. SRK with his effort to perfect the dwarf act and excelling in emotions as always, with his flair for comedy exhibited in Zero, is the top reason to watch out for Zero, and with impressive acts by Katrina and Anushka, lovely music by Ajay- Atul, a fairly engaging presentation and screenplay by Aanand L Rai, Zero ends up as a perfect weekend outing that is sure to win hearts and rule the box office.
