Mega Princess Niharika Konidela has not been able to score a hit so far despite acting in more than 4 films in her career, and yet again she has tried her hands in a feature film, with her latest release Suryakantham directed by debutant Pranith Bramandapally and costarring Rahul Vijay. Here's team AP Herald's exclusive first on net Suryakantham review.

Rahul Vijay's life goes smooth and he's set to get engaged with Parlene, and that's when Suryakantham Niharika Konidela enters on screen. She starts wreaking havoc in his marriage plans. Who is Suryakantham and what's her part in Rahul life, and was she able to win her love or was Rahul able to unite with Parlene is what the movie is all about.

Niharika Konidela is aptly cast as Suryakantam with her cute and bubbly acts as well as menacing and scheming plans to get her love are presented well. Rahul Vijay as the youngster caught between his past and present is adequate and impresses. Parlene is mere eye candy, while veterans like Suhasini are just okay in this screenplay. At times, we get a feeling that this cast is more artificial. Some times Niharika is stone-faced during emotional sequences and she could have done a lot better.

Background score by Mark Robin is loud and of his songs, none are hum-worthy. Hari Jasthi's cinematography ensures Suryakantam is a colorful celluloid experience, and Raviteja's editing goes haywire. The writing is pretty shabby and some of the scenes are looted from various Hollywood rom-com's.  The production values are good. But, everything goes waste due to a weak writing.

Debutant Pranith Bramandapally has opted for a simple plot on debut fully utilizing Niharika Konidela but has failed to utilize the rest of the characters well, as none of them make a mark. The conflicts are predictable, the characters are weak and none of the comedies work and the romance is feeble as well.

While the first half is okayish despite slowness, second half changes track and is extremely predictable and drags big time. Except for   Niharika Konidela, there's nothing much to rave about in Suryakantam.

Niharika Konidela, Rahul Vijay, Suhasini Maniratnam, Mark K Robin, Pranith BramandapallyAnother disaster for Niharika
