What Is Good
What Is Bad
- Slow first half
Taapsee Pannu is back on Tamil and Telugu screens after a long time, after becoming a top actress in Bollywood, with Maya fame Ashwin Saravanan directorial Game Over. Here's team AP Herald's exclusive first on net Game Over review.
Swapna resides in a palatial bungalow and is a game addict. She's leading an almost lonely life with just her maid and security for help. A killer is on the run, beheading women, and Swapna who's already in trauma and troubled by rape fantasy now has to fight the psycho killer. Was Swapna able to triumph over the evil is what Game over is all about.
Tapsee Pannu delivers a spellbinding performance as she expresses the addiction, the fear and the survival instinct to perfection and is top notch. Sanchana Natarajan in a brief appearance is good while Vinodhini Vaidyanathan is class. Anish Kuruvilla and Ramya are adequate. We don't want to break the suspense, but towards the climax, you are in for a surprise. The movie has very fewer characters and each of them have done justice to their roles. It was Taapsee who has done an incredible performance.
Ron Ethan Yohan gives a scintillating background score that elevates thrills throughout the screenplay, while cinematography by Vasanth is top notch capturing the brutal and slick visuals with finesse. Editing by Kevin is taut. The entire movie runs for a crisp running time and that is the biggest plus. However, the first half moves at a slow pace. The cinematography is the biggest asset as it captures the dark episodes so well.
After horror flick Maya yet again director Ashwin Saravanan has come up with a thrilling flick with slashers and psychopath and more gore and has succeeded fairly with his engaging screenplay. Tapsee holds the screenplay with her arresting performance. Though there are several template elements and logical loopholes, the gripping screenplay with adequate thrills, the terrifying background score and fine visuals make this game based thrill ride worth a watch.
