  • Heroines
Bottom Line: Doctor Rajasekhar and Prashanth Varma deliver a decent thriller.

Actor Doctor Rajasekhar is back on screen after his comeback success PSV Garudavega which came across as a surprise, with his next release after a gap of 2 years teaming with acclaimed maker Prashanth Varma of Awe fame in Kalki. Here's team AP Herald's exclusive first on net Kalki review.

Doctor Rajasekhar plays a cop named Kalki who arrives at a new place and gets to take over the case of finding a missing person. His mission introduces him to deadly villains and challenges and was Kalki able to resolve the mystery is what the movie is all about.

Star Performance

Doctor Rajasekhar is in peak form and supported by Srinivas dubbing, he is massy, humorous and displays the attitude and swag perfectly. Adah Sharma and Nandita Swetha are perfectly cast and are good. Rahul Ramakrishna is natural, while Pujitha Ponnada as the damsel in distress and Ashutosh Rana and Shatru are menacing. The rest of the cast is adequate.

Techinical Team

Shravan Bharadwaj's background score is terrific and complements the mood of the movie and elevates mass episodes while cinematography by Dasaradhi Shivendra is top notch, capturing the visual grandeur perfectly. Taut editing by Goutham Nerusu makes Kalki a gripping watch.

Director Prashanth Varma had displayed immense promise from his short film days itself and was good in Awe and His fine form continues with Kalki. With doctor Rajasekhar in prime form, the movie takes off interestingly with Rahul Ramakrishna character setting up the suspense and later Rajasekhar taking over the case. Prashanth has laced casual humour with the massy role of Kalki and places mass goosebumps sequences at the right slots. The second half though drags occasionally, has plenty of twists and mind-blowing action to entertain. With stunning visuals and background score and arresting performance of Doctor Rajasekhar, Prashanth Varma delivers an engaging screenplay that makes Kalki a fine investigative thriller.
