After a series of disastrous outings like Kavacham and Sita, Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas returns on screen this time with the remake of Tamil blockbuster psycho-thriller Ratsasan, pairing with Anupama Parameswaran. Here's team AP Herald's exclusive first on net Rakshasudu review.

Arun (Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas) wants to be a director but his stories never find takers and he's forced to join the police force. As murders take place, Arun uses his film knowledge and research on psychos for his script in the investigation, but his superiors fail to listen. However, he even loses his cousin Siri (Ammu Abhirami) and the danger now chases his love Krishnaveni's( Anupama Parameswaran) kid. Arun decodes the mystery and finds the killer, and now who wins in the battle between the cop and the psycho is what Rakshasudu is all about.

Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas is good as the wannabe director turned cop whose inputs are not respected but takes efforts to solve the mystery. Saravanan as Christopher and Mary Fernandes is menacing while Anupama Parameswaran and Ammu Abhirami are good. The rest of the cast including Rajiv Kanakala and vinodhini are adequate.

Ghibran's background score is terrific and generates scares and Venkat's cinematography captures the chase and scary episodes perfectly. Amar's editing could have been taut in the initial sequences. The best part about the movie is they have used the same original Tamil tunes and have made a gripping screenplay.

Director Ramesh Varma has taken up the remake of a hit Tamil movie and has stayed mostly faithful to the original. The first half moves at a decent pace while generating fear and gains more momentum towards interval and moves at a breakneck speed in second half. Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas tries hard to emote but fails mostly while the whole movie is under Christopher control. Though the screenplay is mostly tight there are several drags and some average performances which make Rakshasudu a little below the original.

Bellamkonda Sreenivas, Anupama Parameswaran, Rajeev KanakalaA passable thriller that ends way below the original
