After the blockbuster success of the Multistarrer F2 Fun and Frustration, Mega prince Varun Tej is back yet again with another Multi-starrer this time teaming with Tamil actor Atharvaa and arrives with the remake of cult Tamil hit Jigarthanda, in Gaddhalakonda Ganesh. Here's team AP Herald's first on net Gaddhalakonda Ganesh review.

Bala(Atharva) wants to make a movie on a gangster, and decides to do a movie based on the deadly gangster Gaddhalakonda Ganesh (Varun Tej). As he gets to follow him and gets caught, Ganesh himself reveals his tales and his rise, his love for Sridevi (Pooja Hegde) and all, but due to Bujjamma(Mirnalini Ravi), Gaddhalakonda Ganesh himself decides to become the hero of Bala's movie. Was Bala able to make the movie with Gaddhalakonda Ganesh is what the movie is all about.

The film completely belongs to Varun Tej who oozes swag and menace and his dialogue delivery is terrific. Pooja Hegde as Sridevi is beautiful and performs well in her limited scope while also sizzling in the song. Atharvaa is apt as the aspiring maker who gets caught in trouble but his limited expressions are a cause of concern and Mirnalini overacts throughout. The rest of the cast including Brahmaji are adequate.

Mickey J Meyer's background score is pulsating while of his songs, Gagana Veedhilo and Jarra Jarra are worth. Cinematography by Ayananka Bose captures the action sequences and songs very well while editing by Chota K Prasad must have been better. The Production values are rich. However, the screenplay lags a lot. Varun Tej delivers a life-time performance. Bobby Simhaa who played the original character 'Assault Sethu' even got a National Award. Let's see what Varun can do it.

Director Harish Shankar is back after the average result of Duvvada Jagannatham, with Gaddhalakonda Ganesh, the official remake of Kollywood hit movie Jigarthanda. While the portrayal of antagonist by Bobby Simha in the original fetched him a national award, Varun Tej as Gaddhalakonda Ganesh has given an earnest performance that deserves mention and he is the sole savior of the movie. The first half of the movie establishes the characters, the conflict and the flashback of Ganesh is way too filmy with Pooja Hegde's character being a forced addition and the song was unwarranted as well. The second half remains mostly faithful to the original, though Mirnalini's acting and the screenplay pace are sure to test the patience of the audience. Had Harish Shankar remade Jigarthanda as it was, it would have been a memorable remake. However, due to forced commercial compromises, unwanted songs and fights, dragging screenplay and some mediocre performances by Mirnalini and Atharva make Gaddhalakonda Ganesh a tiresome watch. Despite great work by Mickey J Meyer and Varun Tej giving an impressive performance, Gaddhalakonda Ganesh ends as a remake that works in parts and as an average entertainer.
