Story:
After scoring a massive blockbuster comeback with Namma Veettu Pillai, rising star siva karthikeyan is back on screen this time teaming up with PS Mithran of Irumbuthirai fame for the superhero flick hero where he fights issues in the education system. Sakthi is a fake certificate agent who plans to help Mathi a student get a seat but loses her because of the education mafia. As Moorthy supports him, Sakthi turns a superhero to fight the evil Mahadev, and whether Sakthi the superhero completed his mission and cleaned the education system by foiling Mahadev's plans and destroying his mafia is what hero is all about.
Performances:
Siva karthikeyan as the smart con turned superhero is perfect, as he has opportunities to score as a family-friendly fun-loving hero, as well as the man for the masses, the dutiful superhero. priyadarshan -Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>kalyani priyadarshan is pretty and gives a measured performance, while arjun as the victim of the system who now wants to mentor Siva is aptly cast and gives a powerful performance. Though abhay deol starts off strongly, his body language and dialogue lip-sync are a huge cause of concern. The rest of the cast including ivana and robo shankar are adequate.
Technicalities:
Yuvan shankar Raja's background score is pulsating and his work comes to the fore especially in several elevation sequences and the second half continuous 18-minute BGM episode while his songs don't work. Cinematography by George C Williams presents hero as a glossy outing and captures the action moments in all glory. Editing by Ruben could have been better, chopping few sequences and songs.
Analysis:
Director PS Mithra, after touching cyber crimes in Irumbuthirai has this time touched another burning issue of the nation- crimes in the education system. With the superhero angle coming handy and the mass hero siva karthikeyan giving it his all, this movie was expected to be a firecracker, and Siva delivers it with ample support from arjun, and abhay deol is subtly menacing. The movie has enough dosage of action, emotions and plenty of goosebumps moments to cater to masses. With rich technical aspects including top-notch background score and cinematography, hero is strong technically. PS Mithran has presented ah interesting entertainer which exposes the brain stealing, the education Mafia, and a superhero's rise to serve justice, in an impressive manner. All said hero is a stunning flick from siva karthikeyan and PS Mithran which completely entertains.
Verdict: A massy, emotional Superhero who entertains!
