Raftaar Singh is a care-free, easy going Sardar from Punjab. He falls in love with a foreigner (Amy Jackson) who cannot speak Hindi. Raftaar Singh is unable to speak English. Lara Dutta enters the screen and she helps them by translating the languages. But while translating she changes the meaning of the sentences and that creates a mess between the two. And now comes a twist with Raftaar realizing who he actually was. How the lovers join hands forms the rest of the story.
Akshay Kumar as a Punjabi singh has done a neat job. But he could have performed a lot better than this. His performance was like doing limited justice to the character. However he cracks jokes at the right moment and also kicks the baddies. Amy Jackson is the biggest asset to the movie. She is fantabulous She fights and does have lots of skin show. But whether this movie will give her the much needed break through ? The chemistry between the lead pair is Zeor. Lara Dutta's presence is just a passing cloud. The rest of the cast are just appearing randomly and then they disappear. Kay Kay Menon, Pradeep Rawat, Anil Mange, Arfi Lamba, Rati Agnihotri, Yograj Singh, Kunal Kapoor and there is still a huge cast.. but everyone were under utilized.
On the technical side, Dudley's cinematography is eye-candy and it captures the beautiful scenarios and Amy Jackson's curves. Music by Sajid-Wajid is average. The production values are low and it is evident in few sequences. Editing could have been even more crisper. Prabhu Deva as a director has failed yet again with some mindless screenplay. The writing has been clumsy.
The director is unable to do much with this screenplay. The movie is fun-filled if you choose to ignore your brain. In case if you are a fan of Akshay Kumar and if you loved Rowdy Rathore, you can watch this one time. The movie is not so disappointing as it have entertainment values at places.
