Gangai Amaran is a renowned Music director, Singer, Lyric Writer, Script Writer and film director. He has directed the famous 'Karagattakaaran' in 1989 and the movie was a phenomenal success in history of Tamil cinema.
His directorial debut came in 1982 with 'Kozhi Koovuthu' movie. He is the younger brother of Isaignani Ilayaraja and father of Director Venkat Prabhu and Comedian Premgi Amaren.
The 67 year old veteran is now a panel member of the Central Board of Film Certification, by the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. It should be noted that recently S.Ve.Shekar was also appointed as a panel member.
Along with Gangai Amaren, T.Anil Kumar, T.S.Nagabharana and Susmitha Das were also included in the four member panel and their existence is with immediate effect. They will continue to be a member in the panel for next three years.
