'Bombay Velvet' is a flop movie and Director Anurag Kashyap accepted it. The movie was based on historian Gyan Prakash's book Mumbai Fables. The project was produced by Vikas Bahl and co-produced by Anurag Kashyap himself. The movie incurred more losses.


Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Karan Johar essayed main characters while Kay Kay Menon, Manish Choudhary, Vivaan Shah and Siddhartha Basu did supporting characters. The movie had a released by May 15th this year and it became one of the colossal failures


The movie which was made in a budget of 121 Crores just managed to earn 32Crores at Box-office in return. Film maker Vikas Bahl recently said he was the reason behind failure as he asked Anurag to reduce violence and profanity in order to get clean 'U'.


He said, "'Bombay Velvet' is just a costly lesson. Anurag Kashyap is going to be a better director. I am going to be a better producer. It was my mistake. I was forcing him to be handicapped as we need a U certificate. Censors was the main reason behind the loss."
