'Sowcarpettai' features Srikanth and Raai Laxmi in lead roles. Apart from Tamil, the movie will be releasing as ‘Begum Beta’ in Telugu and ‘Tantra Shakthi’ in Hindi. The movie also features stellar cast of actors like Vivek, Saravanan, Sampath Raj, Suman, Kovai Sarala, Vadivukarasi and Singam Puli.
John Max and Jones produces the movie under their production house Shalom Studios. Vadivudayaan who earlier directed 'Thambi Vettoti Sundaram' is directing this venture. Shri Thenandal Films already bagged the distribution rights for this movie. This is yet again a horror movie.
Regarding the movie Srikanth said, "Don't have more expectations regarding the movie. The movie has a simple plot. There are two lovers and they are brutally murdered by antagonists. The lovers who are prowling around as restless spirits take revenge on those who murdered them.
The story might be the same. But the treatment is definitely going to surprise everyone. Raai Laxmi is a clear professional and we are happy with her addition. This movie is going to be a milestone for her."
