A recent report has conveyed that Bollywood industry will generate revenues of 19000 Crores by the year 2017. Right now Bollywood is generating revenues of 15,500 Crores. As there are more number of multiplexes and with growing digitization, the industry is having a rise in the revenue.
Now a joint study conducted by Assocham and Deloitte says, "Box office collections in India that are estimated at over Rs 11,500 crores are likely to cross Rs 14,200 crores mark by 2017 and will account for about 74 per cent of the majority of Bollywood revenues.
The revenue from overseas Box-office collections alone will account for 1300 Crores. Right now the revenues in overseas are 1100 Crores." The demand for movies have increased drastically and with the increasing penetration of smartphones.
The price increases with satellite and cable rights too. Apart from this, the online and digital promotion also accounts for more shares. Overall, this is a good sign for Bollywood !
