There has been lots of disputes between Theatre owners, distributors and Producers regarding release of 'Theri'. Finally theatre owners said they won't release 'Theri' and it incurred losses to Producer. Immediately Dhanu who is producer's council president threatened theatre owners that he won't allow other biggies to get released in those theatres.

He also said as it was not released he faced more than 10 Crores loss. Right now the next big project is Suriya's '24'. Everyone expects a massive release. But KE Gnanavel Raja said he will support Dhanu and he won't give the movie to Chengalpet area.

And immediately due to this, Whole Tamil Nadu theaters came forward and supported chengalpet theatres and said even they won't release '24'. This caused huge problems and this was definitely not a good sign for Tamil cinema. And for past three days talks went on between Producers council and Chengalpet theatre owners.

Finally an amicable solution has popped up and Producers Council has stepped down and promised to release movies on Percentage basis. An inside source said, Dhanu has faced hefty losses and that is what has forced him to stoop down.
