Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love was directed by Mira Nair about the ancient Hindu text Kama Sutra, which was penned by Vatsyayana. The movie was banned to be released as it has contained sexual content in it. Next banned movie was “Fifty Shades of Grey”, which also like Kama Sutra and the Censor Board hasn’t given any rating for this movie.


Next was a biographical movie which was made on the life of Phoolan Devi and was titled as “Badit Queen”. This movie was screened at Edinburg Film Festival. Black Friday was about the 1993 bomb blast and the movie was controversial and also the verdict for 1993 bomb blast is still pending and the Censor Board has banned it.


“Fire” was the first mainstream movie in the Indian cinema which has shown about homosexual relationship. Even this movie was banned by the Censor Board as it had many controversial issues. Next movie was “Water” which was directed by Deepa Mehta and a human activist has organized a protest to stop the production.


Hava Aane De was made about the growing tension between India and Pakistan and so it was banned. Next movie which was based on Indian politics was titled as “Kissa Kursi Ka”and the movie copies were burnt by Sanjay Gandhi’s well wishers. Paanch is not released as the movie was about drugs, sex and violence.
