These days it's not just about the glamour and skin show. Bollywood actresses have broken the stereotypes and have walked out the primary requirements. The audience's cinematic sensibilities too have changed these days. Most of the actresses are even willing to change their looks as per the character she plays.

Most of them are not just the contemporary actress these days. Best examples are Aishwarya Rai from 'Sarbjit' and Alia Bhatt from 'Udta Punjab'. Aishwarya Rai has completely forgotten her glamour and she plays a spirited sister who fights to free her brother imprisoned across the border.

Also the first look poster itself shows Aishwarya in a mature look with spectacles and austere attire. Similarly Alia Bhatt who often played urban roles was given a new role in 'Udta Punjab'.

As per script, she plays role of a hockey player from Bihar who is forced to work in the fields after her father's death. Alia wears simple salwar kameez and her ethnic look in the film also includes a nose ring, which the actress is sporting for the first time. Definitely 'Refreshing' times ahead.
