However most of the language has been left intact. 'Udta Punjab' showcases Shahid Kapoor as a drug-addicted Rock star named Tommy Singh and his character is etched in such a way he use abusive and cuss words in each sentence he speaks. Regarding this verdict Censor board Chief Pahlaj Nihlani said, "We had requested the producers of Udta Punjab to tone down the abuses.

No one speaks as filthily as Shahid Kapoor is shown speaking in the movie." But the honourable court said, "We do not find the film questions sovereignty or integrity of India by the names of cities, reference to state or by a signpost." Also the title 'UDTA PUNJAB' stays as it is.
