There were strong criticism to this scene and Director Ramnath is baffled by the way people reacted to this scene. He said, this scene doesn't deserve so much attention. He said, "First of all, the scene is just a reflection of the kid's innocent thoughts.
It passed the censor board without being cut. Why don't people see the good message in the climax rather than concentrating on a scene that was meant for fun? If Nayanthara had apprehensions while performing the scene,
she wouldn't have shot it at all. In recent times, a particular group of people criticize everything in a movie. They just blow things out of proportion. We just can't overlook a young kid kissing his teacher."
