Government of Andhra Pradesh annually rewards Tollywood with Nandi award for excellence in Telugu cinema, Telugu Theater, Telugu Television, and Life time achievements in Indian cinema. As usual this time also Nandi award ceremony was conducted at Lalitha Kala Thoranam but our Tollywood has showed its true colors to Telugu audiences and also to CM Kiran Kumar Reddy.
To start with not even a noted hero, heroine, director attended the event and on top of it heroes Mahesh Babu & Nagarjuna, who were named best actor in two categories, left the dais immediately after receiving the award. But Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan who was the guest of honor at the event stayed till the end of the program, it’s was a straight slap on those celebs who pass on statements like cinema is bread and butter for them and they eat ,sleep ,think, breath ONLY CINEMA but watched award show in their home LCD.
This is not first time Tollywood stars showed their step mother love for Nandi awards, history is proof that actors who did not won award never attended Nandi award ceremony. And don’t be surprised to know that Ram Charan even did not come to take Nandi award, which he won for ‘Magadheera’ in 2009.
This year Nandi award event remains as black day in history of Telugu cinema to some more reasons folks. Traditional intro speech which should be given by CM of state was skipped by Kiran Kumar Reddy, money spend on Nandi celebration is not near to audio release function of low budget movie. Entire event has been wrapped up in hours with couple of songs been performed & sung by few singers, without any star shine.
