Earlier, Kamal Haasan has let out this stunning statement which has left a shock wave for all the artists.He has objected GST tax for cinema as 28 percent which is very very high.And because of this, no one will be benefitted.He mentions this industry cannot afford for such high-interest rates.
He told the media that cinema is an art and this tax projects this field as a sinful way.He has requested the Government to reduce it to 12 or even 18 percent.The association has plans to meet Arun Jaitley regarding this issue.
We welcome GST and one India one tax. But this rate will ruin regional cinema," Mr. Haasan told reporters this evening. Mr. Haasan has made over 40 films and starred in over 100. "If I can't afford the tax I'll have to quit. I will not work for the government... what is this? Is this the East India Company?"He mentioned this one is similar to that of the British rule.
Now, to keep his word, he seems to have entered Television screen. He hosts Big Boss in Tamil version and the show will be aired from June 25th. The show will be shown at Star Vijay network.
