Maverick maker Shankar, known for his technical finesse and big budget extravagant entertainers with a relevant social message created ripples in the industry with his 1996 blockbuster Indian/Bharateeyudu/Hindustani. Starring Kamal Hassan in dual roles as dad and son, the film revolved around a freedom fighter who decides to clean the nation and make it corruption free, going on a killing spree, ultimately killing his very own son, a corrupt brake inspector. Produced by A.M.Ratnam, the film had music by A.R.Rahman and turned out to be a big hit at the box office, besides also earning Kamal a national award.
Now, the industry is abuzz with news that the actor - director combo might soon reunite, and this will be a very special flick. Yes, this biggie is going to be the sequel to the 1996 vigilant flick Indian. With Kamal Hassan constantly tweeting about the Tamilnadu political scenario and often giving statements condemning irresponsible acts of politicians, chances are that the legendary actor might soon enter politics and Indian 2 might just be the best way to kick-start his political agenda.
It must be noted that Kamal and Shankar were supposed to reunite for Robot itself, but it didn't materialize, and Superstar Rajinikanth went on to star in the script. Meanwhile, Kamal Hassan is busy with his television assignment Bigg Boss, and will later move on complete his Vishwaroopam 2 and Sabaash Naidu before finalizing on Indian 2.
