Nandamuri  Balakrishna had a mixed 2017, with a Superhit historical flick Gautamiputra Satakarni by Krish for Sankranthi 2017, and the mass masala flick Paisa Vasool directed by Puri Jagannath which released in early part of 2017's last quarter, which went on to become a colossal disaster.

Recently, the energetic senior hero had a release in the movie of Jai Simha, that released on January 12 amidst huge expectations, as it had to clash with Powerstar Pawan Kalyan starrer Agnyaathavaasi, and with negative reviews pouring in for Agnyaathavaasi, and Jai Simha having favorable reviews, the movie is cashing in at the box office, and is doing great business towards earning a Sankranthi hit tag.

When asked by the media regarding Balayya's interest in remakes, he revealed that KS Ravikumar had initially approached him with a remake idea 5 years back, but he refused, as he felt the credit will go to the original hero, besides he had himself failed to star in a remake movie, and this time around KS Ravikumar came up with an original script before 5 months, and that was how Jai Simha  was born and won.
