After 2 years, Director Sukumar and Mega Powerstar Ramcharan have made a stunning comeback to screens with Rangasthalam, period flick set in the 80s. Known for his stylish entertainers, Sukumar has ventured into the rural mass flick with Ramcharan, who's known for his mass action roles, for the company. Here's team AP Herald's exclusive Rangasthalam first report.



Set in the 80s in Rangasthalam, the movie begins showing the plight of farmers and establishing the evil nature of President (Jagapathi Babu). The deaf Chitti Babu (Ramcharan), is leading a happy life with his love for Ramalakshmi (Samantha) and extreme care and protection for brother Kumar Babu (Aadhi Pinisetty), until Kumar Babu, decides to fight against President by contesting elections. While President doesn't even expect this uprising, Chitti Babu stands tall and lends a protective shoulder to Kumar to make him succeed, challenging the all-powerful president. Who won the battle of power, politics, betrayal and ultimately rescued Rangasthalam, is what the movie is all about.



Ramcharan has delivered the finest performance of his career, while Aadhi Pinisetty and Jagapathi Babu are revelations, with the stunning variations and multiple shades to their characters. Samantha is a surprise as she has completely transformed into a village Belle, with authentic dubbing. Music by Devi SriPrasad is impressive with 3 songs making an impact, and Ratnavelu's Cinematography of an asset to Rangasthalam. Known for his stylish flicks, this time Sukumar has opted for a rural flick with emotions and betrayal playing important roles, and has presented a simple tale with interesting twists and excels with his clever screenplay, and extracting best performances from his cast, making Rangasthalam a worthy village visit.  Rangasthalam is the best of Ramcharan, that turns out to be a must watch for its rustic making and engaging screenplay.
