Actress Sona Rathod has exposed a cheap and shameful act of a director, who had desperately tried to prove her as a transgender. Following Telugu actress Sri Reddy who voiced out against the practice followed by several directors and producers in Tollywood to call out actresses to bed in return for movie offers, several other actresses have started to come out in the open, and voice out against the industry injustices.
In a recent event held in Hyderabad, actresses, women activists, advocates and NGOs had participated.While Sri Reddy also participated in the event, many other women had expressed the troublesome situations they had faced in their lives and careers. Actress Sona Rathod said that she had gone to an audition, seeing a newspaper advertisement.
The director had asked her whether she was a transgender really, and to make her prove it, the director had made her strip down totally, said a teary-eyed Sona Rathod. Junior Artist Sruthi said that men who had sex with her for film offers, later told that she was fat and dark and refused to make her act in their movies. She further added that, though our political leaders speak of clean India, during shootings, artists are made to use open spaces, as there are no toilets available.
