Naa Peru Surya begins with the introduction of the Army man Surya (Allu Arjun), who has the passion and patriotism towards his country, but goes overboard when dealing with things against his principles and thoughts, as he fails to control his anger, which leads to him getting ousted from the army. In the meanwhile, Surya, as advised by his father played by Arjun, tries to earn love, love his family, and suppress his anger but is confronted by baddies Sarathkumar and Anoop Singh Thakur. Was Surya able to bring his anger under control and turn the perfect army officer is what Naa Peru Surya is all about!

Allu Arjun is perfect as the army man with his physique, and body language, but certainly overdoes when mouthing punchlines and patriotic lines, and is perfectly complemented by the measured acts of Arjun and the menacing Sarathkumar. Anu Emmanuel is a mere eye candy. Music by Vishal- Shekar is hum-worthy, while Rajeev Ravi's cinematography is perfect.

Despite having a good plot and a strong cast, director Vakkantham Vamsy struggles to deliver an engaging and pacy screenplay, as the film has a lot of dull moments and drags, with the over the top preachy patriotic lines and the stereotypical villainy, only add to the damage. While the first half moves on a leisurely pace, the second half just follows an uneven screenplay with forced fights and misplaced songs, ultimately making Naa Peru Surya, a tiresome experience deserving patience.
