With a wide release despite competition from Samantha starrer, Pawan Kumar starrer U-turn, Seemaraja has taken a huge opening, as the movie has taken a grand opening day collection of 13.5 crores in 550 screens in Tamilnadu and has also crossed a collection of 1.01 crores on day 1 in Chennai.
Seemaraja is the 6th movie to post day 1 collection above 1 crore, joining the likes of Rajnikanth, Ajith, and Vijay, with movies like Kaala, Kabali, Vivegam, Theri and Mersal, and sure shows Siva's box office stamina and his rise to the top 5 heroes of Tamil cinema. A leading trade analyst while speaking on the news debate said this info and said Siva is also a top star.
