The year began for Bollywood with the release of the big budget historical fiction entertainer Padmavat, directed by the maker of grand entertainers, Sanjay Leela Bhansali based on history as well as fictional accounts.
The movie starred the hottest couple of Bollywood, the leggy lass Deepika Padukone and the crazy rising superstar Ranveer Singh and the chocolate hero Shahid Kapoor, and was about how queen Padmavati and many Rajput women sacrificed lives to avoid Khilji.
With ruthless villainy by Ranveer as Alauddin Khilji and Deepika at her royal best, the movie went on to become a 500 crores grosser blockbuster. Now, even as the couple got married, the movie's Tamil version was telecast on Colors Tamil today and again the movie has generated huge TRP rating midst other movies.
