Almost 7 years back, director Santhakumar had made his debut, with the action-packed crime thriller Mouna Guru, which starred Arulnithi in lead role, alongside Iniya, John Vijay and Uma Riyazkhan, and the movie turned out to be a sleeper hit, earning critical acclaim as well.
The movie was even remade in Hindi with Sonakshi Sinha playing the lead role, and directed by AR Murugadoss as Akira, which was a dud though. However, the director, who was supposed to work with Karthi or Suriya for a long time, had never been receiving any project, and there was no news on him.
Recently, there came a surprise as Santhakumar's second project was launched today, and the movie, titled as Magamuni stars Arya, Mahima Nambiar and Indhuja in lead roles, and the movie has Thaman scoring music and is bankrolled by Studio Green.
