Milky babe Kajal Aggarwal has been one of the top actresses of south Indian cinema, active in Telugu and Tamil. The actress who has of late been seen starring in movies alongside low profile stars and in lackluster scripts has now become the surprise entrant into the big budget Sequel, Indian 2 directed by Shankar. While the whole industry has been shocked and surprised over Kamal and Shankar's decision to choose Kajal Aggarwal, is she someone who can't handle heavy roles? Well, not exactly. Here's a talent who's not explored completely yet.

Having been launched by ace director Teja in Lakshmi Kalyanam (2007), Kajal had an opportunity to emote and perform on debut, but films like Aatadista, Pourudu that followed later, besides her Tamil entry with movies like Pazhani projected her as a glam doll who can be used for song-dance routines. It was SS Rajamouli, who first explored her acting potential with Magadheera, giving Kajal her first commercial success. The movie, which had dual roles as princess Mithravinda and Indu, gave her ample scope for performance as well as glam, establishing her career.

And then came several movies like Arya 2 by Sukumar, Brindavanam by Vamshi Paidipally and Mr. Perfect by Dasarath, which offered her lovely, memorable roles with a decent screen space despite being hero dominated movies. Kajal excelled as Geetha, a girl who's stuck between two friends, their love for her and finding real love in Arya 2(2009), as Bhumi, a naive girl who falls for the charm and character of Krish, despite knowing that he's already in love with another girl in Brindavanam(2010), and as Priya, a girl who changes herself for the happiness of the person she loves in Mr. Perfect(2011), and all these characters designed by the makers had more emotional scope than just romancing heroes.

However, what followed next was another series of sizzling hot roles, much to the surprise of the audience, beginning with Veera (2011). Veera was the first such instance of extreme glamour by Kajal Aggarwal, and her hotness even in sarees and the traditional Langa Woni in O Sanam song and the kabaddi sequence displaying her curvy assets turned her into a perfect glam girl. Diwali Deepanni, Pilla Chao, Nani Koni, Google Google, Gulabi Kallu, Choolenge Aasma, Silukku Marame and many more hot and hit numbers followed in Tamil and Telugu, and her hot topless photoshoot for FHM magazine and her extremely unexpected and hot cleavage-baring plunging neckline act in Filmfare awards made sure she began getting typecast only in glam roles. There was a dip as well in the number of films offers she was receiving, and the hits too, and she even sizzled as an item girl in Pucca local song in Janatha Garage (2016) where her erotic and teasing dance moves satisfied audience but wasn't helpful for her career.

It was 2017 that brought her back into the game and gave her an opportunity to reinvent herself as an actress. After Sankranthi 2017 blockbuster Khaidi No 150 where she got the golden opportunity to pair with Megastar Chiranjeevi and played the typical eye-candy, it was her mentor Teja who helped her rediscover the actress in her, yet again. With limited scope for glamour and emotional performance as Radha Jogendra, who has a huge love for her husband and loses her life due to his crooked ways in politics, Kajal received acclaim. In Vivegam, her role as Yazhini Ajay Kumar, a dutiful wife and a damsel in distress who has utmost belief in her husband showed her histrionic skills even better. Like Kali, the girl with multiple personality disorder in Awe (2018), Kajal Aggarwal conveyed emotions with her eyes itself without much of dialogues and in a completely deglamorized look.
