Megastar Mammootty is a national award-winning actor and a popular star in the whole of south India. At the age of 67, he's still a charmer and a force to reckon with in the industry, thanks to his repertoire of films over the past three decades and more.
However, he was last seen in Telugu before decades and even Mahi V Raghav wasn't sure if Mammootty will accept to do a Telugu movie and that too a political one now. When asked how Mahi V Raghav roped in Mammootty to play YSR in Yatra, the director revealed the back story.
Mahi opened up that it was his performance in classic movies like Maniratnam directorial Thalapathy costarring Superstar Rajnikanth and the national award-winning performance in Ambedkar that lead him to approach Mammootty. After listening to the full script, Mammootty had given his nod, and people inside the industry who've already watched Yatra are raving his performance and have already said, Mammootty has brought YSR Back to life, said Mahi.
