2018 saw Badhaai Ho, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Sanya Malhotra which had the premise of an aged couple turning pregnant, disappointing their adult son, and the fun-filled and sentimental events happening later.
This theme was already used in 1994 Malayalam flick Pavithram which was directed by TK Rajeev Kumar, and the emotional blockbuster starred Mohanlal, Sri Vidya, Thilakan and Shobana. The buzz is that there's a plan in progress for making the Tamil remake of Pavithram following the hit result of Badhaai Ho, and the makers want either Siva Karthikeyan or Dulquer Salmaan to play the lead role.
Sanya Malhotra who did the original role is likely to be replaced by Shruti Haasan in the remake. Shruti who has been a star actress may not accept the role. But sources say the actress might sign the dotted line as she is in an idle state right now. However, fans are upset as Shruti has accepted such a movie!
