Its a known fact that Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan and magnum opus maker Shankar had joined hands way back in 1996 to deliver the grand blockbuster vigilant drama Indian, where Kamal played dual roles as a freedom fighter and a corrupt son, and the movie fetched Kamal a national award too.
23 years later, the actor and director have come together for the sequel Indian 2 which kickstarts today, and on this occasion, Veyil maker Vasanthabalan who was an associate of Shankar revealed that this movie was written for Superstar Rajnikanth and was initially with the name Periya Manushan after Rajni has asked Shankar a script after Gentleman success.
However after Rajni got busy and Shankar wanted to start Periya Manushan immediately after Kadhalan success, the team planned to rope in Akkineni Nagarjuna, Venkatesh or Karthik to play the son, and Doctor Rajasekhar or Sathyaraj to play the father but finally, Ulaganayagan came in, revealed Vasanthabalan in his Facebook post. Now, the sequel to 'Indian' featuring Kajal as the female lead has been shelved and this has caused upset to Kajal Aggarwal.
