Superstar Rajinikanth is a phenomenon in Tamilnadu as well as Telangana and Andhra Pradesh as well where his craze is in peaks and he recently had his movie Petta released on eve of Sankranthi festival. The movie had a huge hype before its release.
In Tamil, it clashed with Viswasam and emerged as Pongal runner while Viswasam was a humongous blockbuster Pongal winner and in Telugu too it got very fewer theatres due to the release of three movies NTR Kathanayakudu, Vinaya Vidheya Rama and F2 Fun and Frustration.
Now the movie has ended its theatrical run and has collected a share of just 6.2 crores which is very very less for a superstar who usually collects better share even with flops like Kaala and this is seen as a huge setback in Tollywood market of Rajinikanth. Now, distributors have raised compensation from the Super Star as the movie incurred huge losses. The distributors also decided not to buy Super Star's next movie under AR Murugadoss direction if he fails to compensate for the loss.
