Rani Mukerji is all set to reprise her role as the fearless cop Shivani shivaji Roy in Mardaani 2, a sequel to her hit crime drama Mardaani (2014). While in the first one she took on the kingpin of a child trafficking racket, in its sequel, she will fight a menacing villain who commits crimes against women.
“Rani as Shivani will be seen in a massive showdown with a 21-year-old villain, who is an embodiment of pure evil. He is a dangerous criminal who targets women,” avers director Gopi Puthran.A video showing glimpses of the case and the remainder of the December release date will be unveiled during the ongoing festival of navratri today. Says Rani, “The film will see a female cop fighting an evil person to end crimes against women.
” rani is thrilled that the first key communication of the sequel is happening during Durga Puja, which celebrates woman power in its truest and bravest form. “Maa Durga faced the forces of evil and defeated them. Mardaani 2 will see a woman stand up against evil as well as crimes committed against women and take a bold and brave stand.” Shot extensively in Jaipur and Kota in Rajasthan, the film is the directorial debut of Gopi who scripted Mardaani.
