There is a lot of mix and match happening these days in the film industry. Music directors becoming actors, producers becoming actors, actors becoming producers and directors, cinematographers becoming directors, heroines becoming choreographers and what not…
But one thing has not proved successful. It is comedians becoming heroes. Over the years, many star comedians like Brahmanandam, AVS, Ali, Venu Madhav etc did their best to be heroes but those films got stumped at the box office. Even the new generation comedians like Vennela Kishore failed to get response.
The point is clear. It takes a lot to shoulder a film and once an image is formed in the minds of the audience it is difficult to relate comedians as heroes and watch them. But the smart way would be to give comedians a parallel role to that of lead heroes and make the films successful, this formula has worked.
