The Recent Charity event by Telugu film industry for the victims of Hudhud Cyclone seems to be a smashing hit. The event created history in the Television history not only in the Telugu States but also in the entire South India. The event telecast by Gemini TV has received an average TVR of 13.4 for 14 hours straight, thereby generating 375 GRPS which can not be beaten by any event in near future.
The very successful show was bagged by Gemini TV for a paltry 3.5 Crore. Television experts say the channel may have easily made 100% or even more profits from the deal. It is known that Suresh Babu gave the deal to Gemini as they came forward to buy the TV rights of Gopala Gopala, Bhimavaram Bullodu and Drishyam as a package despite MAA TV offering more for the event.
A very big amount of 11,51,56,116/- was collected from the event towards the welfare of Hudhud Victims. However it has its own share of controversies with several Top actors and directors being not present at the Memu Saitam event as promised. As per reports there is no formal invitation has been given to current top leading directors. Pawan Kalyan too did not make it to the event.
