Nandamuri Balakrishna's Lion is progressing at brisk pace and the shooting is near completion. The first look teaser of the movie released recently managed to impress audience to some extent. The makers are preparing to release the film late March as Summer Special. It is said that the movie has a strong political backdrop almost resembling contemporary politics in our state.

Balakrishna will be playing a CBI officer in the movie and his role will resemble JD Lakshmi Narayana who dealt with YS Jagan's illegal assets case back then. There are several political dialogues in the film which will take pot shots on the Opposition Leader and his alleged 'Laksha Kotlu Avineethi'. The makers are planning to stuff as many of them in the theatrical trailer of the film and create excitement on the film.

Earlier the Censor Board objected to the Political dialogues in Legend and removed them ahead of the General elections. Probably the same is going to happen with Lion too. However it is said that since Balayya is a MLA and his brother-in-law, Chandrababu Naidu is the Chief Minister of AP and a strong ally of the central government, the onus is on him to manage the movie with the Censor board.

The film is being directed by Satya Deva who is a protege of B.Gopal and Puri Jagannadh. The movie is based on a real life character. Trisha and Radhika Apte are the female leads of the film. Rudrapati Ramana Rao is producing the film under his SLV Cinema banner. Mani Sharma who gave several chart buster audios to Balayya in the past is composing the music for this film.
