Indian Censor Board
always plays a vital role in banning the movies. Few movies are banned for its
erotic content, while few are banned for the political content or some
controversies hidden inside it. Now let's see the list of few movies which are
banned in India so far.
1. Kaum De Heere
This movie was likely
to get a release on August 22, 2014. This movie was banned by Central
government as Intelligence bureau warned that the movie may start communal
tensions. The movie was made in such a way it glorifies the murderers of former
Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
2. The Pink Mirror
This was supposed to
release in 2004. But the censor board banned the movie and denied to give any
rating due to its content. The movie focuses on Indian Trans sexuals. The movie
won various awards at numerous festivals though.
3. Fire
This movie cleared
censors but faced wrath of Hindu Fundamentalists. Theatres were attacked and
bombs were thrown. The movie showcased a lesbian relationship. For the first
time, a religious outbreak has caused the movie not to get a release.
4. Fifty Shades of
Grey
The movie is based on
a novel and the erotic romance story was likely to have a release in India. The
distributor has agreed to cut various scenes in the movie, but still the censor
board denied the release of the movie. The movie should have been released
earlier this year.
5. Unfreedom
The story revolves around a Muslim fundamentalist in New York who kidnaps a liberal Muslim scholar with an intent to kill, while a closeted lesbian in New Delhi kidnaps her bisexual lover with the intent to love. Censor board decided that no one should watch the movie. Director Amit Kumar said censor should certify a movie instead of banning or chopping the scenes.
