Dilip Reddy, born and raised in Hyderabad won the Mr India North America 2015 title in the prestigious annual beauty pageant “Mr & Miss India America 2015”. Dilip was the only Telugu speaking contestant in the prestigious contest in which there were five title holders and here is APHerald.com's candid chit—chat with Dilip Reddy
Please tell us your background (India Roots)?
I was born and spent my early childhood in Nalgonda of Telangana state. I moved to Hyderabad for my higher education and lived there till I moved to USA. I was always passionate about music since I was a kid and I got into DJing scene in Hyderabad during my early college years. I learned DJing from Panache DJ School under guidance of DJ Piyush. Those years were life transforming for me as I was attending full time college while working in a full time job to pay for the school and attending DJing classes. I performed DJing all through my college years in Hyderabad. After finishing college I got opportunity to study Electronic music production course from 'SAE Institute' in New York. Since then I'm spending my time making electronic music and working in day job here in US. You can find my work at www.dilipreddy.com
How did you manage to win such prestigious competition? What hard work did you do?
It is unconventional because US has demand for Engineers and Doctors, so it is easier to get visa for those professions and we see lot of engineers and doctors here. It is possible for NRI to excel in other areas as long they follow their dreams. I believe anyone with passion in something like dancing, music, painting etc., can do that in their free time while working in a job that they may not love. Since it is hard to do well financially in their passionate field, they can work in a day job and excelling in their passion when not working. It all comes to one point, how well an individual can manage the balance those areas.
