Rahman received fatwa shock. Sunni muslim group Raza Academy based in Mumbai
issued fatwa against Rahman for scoring music for the Iranian film titled
'Muhammad: Messenger of God'.
In the Fatwa the organisation attacked the Iranian film accusing it of insulting
Islam religion making mockery of it. The film is a trilogy on life of Prophet
Mohammad.
Fatwa objected the decision of the filmmakers to cast non-Muslims in key roles. Even earlier the religious group sent notice to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaratk, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis. They even sent letter to Maharashtra Home Minister to intervene and seek ban on the film.
Saeed Noorie chief of Raza Academy said the organisation is against the title.
They demanded apologies from the filmmakers. Film is directed by Iranian
director Majid Majidi one of the most celebrated director.
