Teja started his career as cinematographer. Later he became a director. He made his directorial debut in Telugu cinema with 'Chitram'. The movie is considered a path breaking movie in Tollywood and it revolutionized Indian cinema.

And he himself took a plate and stand on the line to get the food. This shocked everyone as he was able to get the food even without standing in the queue. But he never took that privilege.
