An Indian Origin photographer who goes by the name Sujan Sarka won the prize at the 10th annual Consultative Group to Assist the Poor photo contest. And at the same time the other eight Indian-Origin photographers were recognized for their portraits. 


Consultative Group to Assist the Poor (CGAP) announced sarkar the grand prize winner for his photo titled as 'Paddy Cultivation'. The photo was chosen as winner from over 3,300 entries from 77 countries. 


This is something phenomenal. Regarding this CGAP made a statement which reads as, "The photo was awarded the winner just for its breathtaking composition and immersive quality. The photo also captured a key theme like small holder farmers and their families." The photo showcased workers working in a paddy field in West Bengal. 


The photo was selected by a panel of three judges who said the photo symbolized they family's livelihood and how they support themselves. Sarkar will now get prize money of $2000 and a gift certificate for photography equipment. Others will get some honourable mentions.
