It is a common saying that marriages are made in heaven. But a lot of Indians often look for the perfect NRI (non-resident Indian) partner. There is a common myth among Indian parents that if their daughter is married to an NRI, she is going to be happy.
But in lots of cases the wedding was just a sham and they turn out to be a farce. There have been numerous cases in which people have tied knot with NRI's and they were cheated later. Now in a shocking report released by Central Government of India says that there has been more number of fraudulent marriages in Indian diplomatic missions abroad.
And guess what ? Most number of cases come from United States of America. Next to USA, is Canada. The report says, "Since 2011-12, there have been a total of 188 cases/complaints of fraudulent marriages."
USA alone has registered 139 cases. However on the brighter side, the numbers have declined from 149 to 139. There was a rise in such frauds from 26 in 2011-12 to 49 in 2012-13 for the USA. After USA, the next unreliable spot is Canada which is followed by United Kingdom.
