The WTO has made a report that the India and Brazil were the leading initiators of anti-bumping investigations during 2015 and it has stated that the WTO members have initiated 107 new anti-dumping investigations from January to June and just slightly up from 106 in the same period during 2014.


Meanwhile the top initiators during 2015 were again the US and 15 new investigations which were followed by Brazil (12) and India (12) with Turkey are also catapulting and the report has also stated that the safeguard investigations were also initiated by 11 members which include India, Indonesia and Malaysia.


The products which were covered ranged from ceramic tiles and cars to polyethylene terephthalate which is used for making beverage containers and alloy and non alloy steel. A safeguard investigation has sought to determine whether increased imports of a product are causing or are threatening to cause serious injury to a domestic industry and many WTO members are expressed concerns about the proliferation of protective measures.
