The torrential rains has caused more havoc to people of Chennai and Chess player Vishwanath Anand's family was among those who opened their doors to help those affected. It was said that Vishwanath Anand was in London when the floods affected Tamil Nadu.

But his family who was in Chennai gave shelter, food and clothes to the slum people living near by. They joined hands with celebrities like Vishal and Siddharth and rescued people during this difficult time.

Aruna Anand who is the wife of Vishwanath Anand said, "The first round of floods took homes of some people and they were living without any shelter. The second round completely shattered people and floods forced people to evacuate low-lying areas. I asked people to come in and be safe. We had about 15 to 20 people sleeping in our house, of whom one or two were pregnant women.

Everyone in Chennai has contributed as much as possible. Our maid lost her home, belongings but still she contributed two sarees to the next door person who never had that. There are lots of people who are doing greater service than what we have done."
