The stage is now set for a high-voltage drama between the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh with Godavari River Management Board (GRMB) meeting today for deciding the fate of Sileru hydroelectric project. The board is also assessing the design changes in PranahitaChevella and Kanthanapalli projects.

The Telangana government had already complained regarding the non-sharing of hydro power generated at the Sileru project by AP government while the AP government is not sharing power citing how all the hydro projects were re-distributed between the two states based on geographical location.

AP energy department says for giving Sileru power, then Telangana should give power from Jurala and Nagarjunasagar.  AP government is also raising doubts over downstream water scarcity due to the change of design of Pranahita-Chevella and Kanthanapalli projects.

According to Godavari water sharing award, Telangana gets 912 TMC feet water while 509 TMC feet water is for AP out of the 1484 TMC feet water available in Godavari. Telangana government has also raised its voice against Pattiseema!
