It has been nearly one and half year since government was formed at
the Centre. Naturally the honeymoon period has more or less ended and
also the time has come to deliver because 2019 elections are not that
far away.
Now the national media is mentioning
few reports of an expected massive shuffle in the Union Cabinet. There
are speculations that Modi may signal a shift of Arun Jaitley from
Finance to Defense portfolio and bring Piyush Goyal to Finance ministry.
Piyush Goyal is rated among the best performing ministers of Modi’s
cabinet.
Moreover Piyush is also considered
really close to Chandrababu Naidu and both of them have worked closely
in making AP India’s leading state in Power reforms. If Piyush can
really get the crucial Finance portfolio, it marks a definite advantage
to Chandrababu Naidu and the state of AP.
Given
the fact that AP is facing a serious crunch, and is hoping for some
attractive packages, having his man in the Finance portfolio, is a good
thing, Anyway the fact is that it is Narendra Modi and Amit Shah who
will make allocations to Andhra Pradesh and they will do at a time of
their choosing!
