Hyderabad High Court's sensational judgment acquitting Pidathala Satyam Babu in Ayesha Meera's murder case gave twist to the entire investigation. Now speculation is increasing as to who is protecting Ayesha's murderers.

Pharmacy student,Ayesha Meera was raped and murdered on December 26, 2007 in her hostel near Vijayawada on Aug 16,2008. Special women's court in Vijayawada pronounced Satyam guilty on September 29, 2010 and awarded him life sentence.

Satyam Babu spent 8 years in jail and finally, justice prevailed when High Court acquitted him of all charges and awarded `1lakh compensation for the trauma he had endured while languishing in the Rajahmundry Central Jail for nearly eight years.

A bench of  Justice CV Nagarjuna Reddy and Justice MSK Jaiswal hearing Satyam Babu's lawyers came down heavily on public prosecutor Posani Venkateswarlu, who told the court that the investigators had done a scientific job to prove the charges against Satyam.

Bench pointed out “Even the mother of the victim was not willing to accept the theories of the police officials,“ Court directed the AP government to initiate disciplinary proceedings against the errant investigation officers for implicating Satyam in the case.

Ayesha's mother from the beginning expressed doubts on Satyam Babu's involvement and the court had permitted the cops to get a narco-analysis test conducted on him, but the police had failed to get it done.

Satyam Babu's counsel said  “I am appearing for Satyam Babu. Police created a false crime scene and implicated him  in order to protect the real culprit. I am also appearing for Ayesha because justice can be done to her only when the real culprits are punished. And thirdly, I am appearing for justice as well because it was also murdered in this case,“

Shamshad Begum,Ayesha's mother says  “Satyam Babu should be paid Rs 1 crore for losing eight years of his precious life in prison. The court's relief of Rs 1 lakh is not enough for the poor boy,“

She added “Our daughter would get justice only when the real culprit goes behind bars. We want CM Chandrababu Naidu to set up a fast-track court and conduct an impartial probe to nail the accused,“

Ayesha's father says police are trying to save the criminals as they belong to an influential politician. He says “We firmly believe that the cops misled the investigation and caused great trauma to Satyam Babu and his family.
The case must be reopened and the culprit is given stringent punishment,“

Babu suffers from GB syndrome, a condition in which the body's immune system attacks the peripheral nervous system. The condition has rendered him physically disabled and he can no longer walk without help.

He says former minister Koneru Ranga Rao's family members were involved in the rape and murder of his daughter. Gautam Sawang, Vijayawada commissioner says he was taken aback by the verdict.
