The whole of Malayalam film industry was shaken after a popular actress was abducted and molested by goondas in February, and as she was dropped near a famous Director's place, the actress explained the horrific time she went through with the molesters, following which action was taken against one of the biggest stars of Malayalam industry, Dileep.
The 50-year-old, fondly called Janapriyanayakan was accused of joining hands with Nadir Shah and Suni reportedly and had conspired against the actress as she was reportedly involved in him getting divorced from Manju Warrier. Besides he was arrested and was out on bail only after 85 days, and now he's the 8th accused in the charge sheet, thereby indicating that the law is for all.
The governing body of Malayalam film industry, AMMA had convened meetings in which Big stars like Mammootty and Mohanlal failed to voice out against Dileep or in support of the victim, while younger stars like Prithviraj revolted against immediate action following which Dileep was expelled from the post of AMMA treasurer.
However, Dileep bounced back professionally with the success of Ramaleela which became a big comeback blockbuster. With the events following the assault showing a clear difference of opinion existing in the union and the trial pending, Dileep's future is in deep trouble in the coming years.
