The popular Jeweler Nirav Modi has reportedly escaped to West Indies. While initially it was reported that Nirav Modi had escaped and was staying in the US, it has now been reported that Nirav Modi is currently in West Indies.
Nirav Modi has been accused with the charge of defrauding Punjab National Bank by securing fake bank undertakings, and receiving finance from foreign money lenders, and this was followed by numerous raids by the enforcement directorate. While the raids lead to confiscation and seizing of lots of properties of Nirav, the government is searching to find the whereabouts of him. However, it has now been revealed that Nirav Modi has planned to settle down in St Keats Island in West Indies.
It has also been said
that he has made all the arrangements for the same, and also to shift his
family to the island. Since West Indies is a part of Commonwealth nations, it
will be difficult to bring Nirav out of the country, and hence, he has opted to
settle in West Indies reportedly. Besides owning houses and properties in West
Indies, he has also now applied to secure permanent citizenship of West Indies,
and it is expected that he will secure it as the only condition happens to be
an investment of 1.5 crores in some business in the country.
